What is meant by Hadith:

In Arabic the word hadith means ‘that which is new from amongst things’ or ‘a piece of information conveyed either in a small quantity or large’.

In Islamic terminology, the term hadith refers to reports of statements or actions of Muhammad (صلي الله عليه وسلم), or of his approval of something said or done in his presence. It is considered holy, but at a lower status than the Qur’an.

The sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (صلي الله عليه وسلم) have been collated and authenticated in collections of Hadith.
